Besides being the front man and founder of Attackhead, Mark Chapman is also involved in speaking and charity events. Mark has a long history of charitable giving along with talking to young adults about his experiences in law enforcement and music.
Mark has organized numerous free concerts for members of our military performing at bases for the Navy, Marines and Army. Mark also arranged the delivery of 500 Attackhead CD’s to the troops servicing overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Mark also does speaking engagements detailing his 17 year career in law enforcement as well as his career in music. The talks center on decision making, life choices, personal responsibility, communication skills, empowerment and perspective. He has spoken at charter schools, police explorer posts and at teen shelters.
Mark and Attackhead have also performed at a benefit concert in Maryland for a police charity which helps families of police officers killed outside the line of duty.
Mark has worked with some of Attackhead’s sponsors to provide music equipment for auctions or for use in music programs. Recently Spear guitars have donated a guitar and Jim Dunlop has donated strings, picks, straps and other musical supplies.
During his career in law enforcement Mark has seen many young people make catastrophic life decisions that often result in incarceration or a lifetime of struggle. If one life can be changed and put on a path to success then Mark is more than happy to help.
Mark worked as a police officer in Orange County, CA for 15 years. He started his career with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department in 1989. He has worked as a patrol officer, undercover narcotics and vice, SWAT team leader, departmental instructor, field training officer and patrol Sergeant. Mark medically retired in 2006 following an on duty shooting for which he was awarded the Medal of Courage.
